Kate Moss In Kate Moss TopShop Pinstripe Jeans
via Denimology: A couple of days ago I posted a promotional shots of Kate Moss wearing a pair of jeans from her Spring/Summer 2008 collection for TopShop. And as if to prove that she does actually wear the clothes she designs here she is in the same pair of pinstripe jeans on a recent shopping trip to the Prada store in London.

Designer Menswear Winter 08-09: The Classic Codes of the Tuxedo
Men’s designers from Paris and Milan have taken their inspiration from the classic codes of the tuxedo whilst details such as shawl collars and satin or velvet trims are used to create new products.
Dries VAN NOTEN shows a flannel jacket with a satin shawl collar. In his own collection, Kris VAN ASSCHE presents a tuxedo-inspired jacket worn over a boilersuit, while FERRAGAMO mixes sports style with the tuxedo. Ann DEMEULEMEESTER adds a ruched shirtfront to a shawl-collared jacket.
In menswear, the tuxedo is a source of inspiration and reinvention.
In its Men’s Summer 09 Trendbook, Promostyl features it twice: firstly in the ACADEMIC theme in it’s approach to t-shirts and secondly in the SPECTACLE theme where classic codes go between rock and romanticism.

“Jean-Michel Basquiat” by Jeannette Montgomery Barron
Vintage Portraits from the 1980s by Jeannette Montgomery Barron are the topic of an exhibition that opens today at ClampArt in New York. Barron captures some of the most significant artists of the time in moments of great calm that exude an intimacy, made even softer by the use of natural light. These are black and white photographs that the viewer wants to step into, into a place where there may be a chance to see the artist a little less cloaked.

Buffet Libre DJ’s - Verbena Selected 2
via redthreat
One of the more interesting compilation projects of last year was the Buffet Libre Verbena Selected mixtape. The idea was to take some of the larger up-and-coming electronic acts and ask them to contribute one of their favorite songs into a full length piece produced by Buffet Libre. 15,000 downloads within less than 3 months later, they started thinking that maybe it might be time for a follow-up. Today I was sent the second compilation in their series, with tracks courtesy from everyone from Cut Copy to The Glimmers to Girl Talk. It’s really interesting to see what some of these groups picked as their songs.
Buffet Libre DJs - Verbena Selected 2
For another experiment, we have us the Verbena Rewind project, where the Buffet Libre DJ’s went around requesting a whole bunch of bloggers, including Pardon My Freedom, Get Weird Turn Pro, IHeartComix, D Squared and a whole lot of great music sources (including me ;oP) a single 80’s track for another mix. And the results are great, each saying a lot about the individual people who participated and how early music influenced them. It’s all very reflective. I chose “Six Different Ways” for my single because I’m a huge Cure fan and because that song is totally awesome. Compiled into a two part mixtape, there are separate files and tracklistings. Enjoy.

Margaux Williamson - Girl
Toronto-based painter Margaux Williamson is currently showing at the Marvelli Gallery in New York. The show is called The Girls show Dostoyevsky the new darkness, and Williamson’s viewers are led into a narrative that is soft and dark, with the interpretation of each adjective left open. The darkness is certainly present in the above painting, Girl, but for a painting so black, is it really dark? And the chains that hold the sledding girls in the painting that bears the name of the exhibition - are they hindering or helping, in the marshmallow snow? And OK or Self-portrait as Future Buddha, how can these paintings not endear themselves to us?

New track off of Big Boi’s upcoming album Sir Luscious Left Foot.
Featuring Raekwon and Andre 3000.
Produced by Rick Wallkk & Jeron Ward.
Big Boi of Outkast made news months back by announcing that he was working on a solo album, but few details have surfaced since. In a recent interview with Vibe, Outkast’s other half spoke on the status of his project.
“I’m going to put 12 songs on there, I’m finished with like nine right now,” says Big Boi. “I plan on releasing a single on December 31 at midnight going into the New Year, ’cause I want all the stuff to be ‘08, everything to be brand new. It’s going to be a lot of surprises. We just really trying to bring that good music back.”
While there is no official release date or title, Big Boi said he was leaning toward calling the album Sir Luscious Left Foot. Initial reports listed Sade and Organized Noize among featured guests on the album. Andre 3000 is also working on a solo album, although the group doesn’t plan to package both works together as they did with Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, which has sold over 11 million copies to date. Big Boi added that he and Andre 3000 will release another Outkast group album after both solo projects are finished.
The Cardboard House
The Cardboard House represents the reduction of technology and the simplification of needs. By demonstrating that we are able to recycle 100% of the building components at extremely low cost, the Cardboard House is a direct challenge to the housing industry to reduce housing and environmental costs. Stutchbury and Pape, working in association with the Ian Buchan Fell Housing Research Unit at University of Sydney, see this project as a genuine temporary housing option. http://www.housesofthefuture.com.au/hof_houses04.html#designconcept |
